More access to fishing spots with Point Stuart Access Road Tender released

Following the design tender being awarded for the Point Stuart Access Road, the Territory Government has released a tender to upgrade 11.8 kilometres of the popular road.

This tender includes the installation of culverts and floodways, and widening of the gravel road from the boat ramp at Point Stuart, back towards Darwin.

Upgrades include widening the access window to this fishing destination and improve the safety for road users.

This section has been prioritised, to enhance access for people towing boats to access fishing in nearby creeks and reefs in the Chambers and Finke Bays.

The upgrading of the Point Stuart Access Road forms part of the Northern Territory Government’s $50 million RecFishing Futures Program.

Work is anticipated to commence in October 2021 and are expected to be complete by mid-2022.
