Shut It® Industrial Metal-Gate Hinges

D&D Technologies, the Australian design and manufacturing company that introduced the world to magnetic gate latches and polymer gate hinges, has introduced its new range of Shut It® bolt-on, metal-gate hinges for heavy duty applications.

D&D acquired the Shut It® Gate Hardware company in the USA in 2016 and has grown the North American market with its established weld-on hinging solutions. But it was mindful that Australian and NZ contractors and fabricators prefer the convenience and cost-saving aspects of bolt-on gate hinges.

There are nine models in the new bolt-on lineup. All but one is made from zinc-coated steel, while the anomalous model offers a steel yoke and aluminium body.

All models carry either one, two or four radial-style (sealed) bearings for maintenance-free performance and sturdy pivoting. This means no greasing or maintenance are required – ever.

D&D is so confident in the Shut It® bearings it offers an unconditional 5-Year Warranty. (The hinge bodies carry a lifetime warranty.)

D&D says that, due to the CNC machining used to manufacture the hinges, the Shut It® range offers the tightest tolerances in the industry. It claims such precise machining of component surfaces also delivers “virtually frictionless rotation”.

Gate-load capacities range from 230kg up to 1360kg, with most models averaging around 900kg. But best of all is the fact all bearings are high-temperature sealed bearings that are safe to powdercoat. That’s right, the hinges can remain on the gate during the powdercoating process!

The zinc electroplated finish of the Shut It® range offers a high degree of rust and corrosion resistance. There are models with adjustable brackets for square and round posts, and there’s a face-mount model that opens to 180˚ for unobstructed access.

D&D Technologies says the new bolt-on range is designed for at least 1 million open/close cycles, and will more than suit harsh Aussie conditions.
